November Makes Us Slow Down a Little
November has a way of changing the pace around here.
The days get a little shorter. The air gets a little cooler. The beaches get quieter. And somehow, the calendar starts filling up with Thanksgiving plans before anyone is quite ready for them.
For us, November also means noticing things a little differently.
We're still driving to shoots, carrying gear, watching the weather, and trying to make it to the next appointment on time.
But there's something about this time of year that makes you slow down for a second.
The Coast Feels Different
The summer crowds have thinned out.
The roads feel a little calmer.
Porches that were too hot to sit on a few months ago suddenly look like the perfect place to spend an evening.
Even the light feels different.
And because we spend so much time moving between homes and communities, we get to see those little changes happen firsthand.
It's a Good Time to Look Around
November makes it easier to notice the things we might rush past during a busier season.
The neighbor putting out Thanksgiving decorations.
The older home that's been part of the neighborhood for years.
The new house that's finally finished.
The little businesses that are still busy even after summer has moved on.
The people who make these communities feel like communities.
At Riley Jones Real Estate Media, we spend a lot of time photographing houses.
But we're also spending a lot of time experiencing the places around them.
And that's one of the things we appreciate most about this job.
Maybe That's What November Is For
Not everything needs to move at full speed.
Occasionally it's nice to take the long way back from a shoot.
Notice the sunset.
Say hello to someone you recognize.
Appreciate the view you've probably driven past a hundred times.
November reminds us that there's plenty worth noticing when you slow down enough to see it.
And around here, we're pretty lucky to have a lot to look at.
