More Than a Pink Ribbon: Why Breast Cancer Awareness Matters to Us
October looks a little different.
You'll see pink everywhere — on shirts, signs, storefronts, social media, and probably more places than you expected.
And while it's easy to think of Breast Cancer Awareness Month as simply “the month with all the pink,” there's a lot more behind it than that.
For us, it's a reminder of how much people matter.
We're fortunate to spend our days working with people all over the communities we serve. Realtors, homeowners, families, business owners, neighbors — our work puts us around a lot of different people.
And over time, you realize that everyone has a story.
Sometimes you know what someone is going through.
Sometimes you don't.
That's part of why awareness matters.
It's About More Than Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings attention to something that has affected so many families and communities.
It encourages people to pay attention, get informed, support one another, and have conversations that might otherwise be easy to put off.
And sometimes the most important thing isn't a big gesture.
It's checking on someone.
Showing up.
Offering encouragement.
Sharing a reminder.
Or simply letting someone know they're not alone.
Community Matters
One of the things we've come to appreciate from working throughout coastal North Carolina is how connected communities can be.
You see it in the small things.
Neighbors helping neighbors. Local businesses supporting causes. People showing up for someone going through a difficult time.
Those things don't always make the news.
But they matter.
And that's something worth recognizing this month.
So, You'll Be Seeing a Lot of Pink From Us
Because of that, we've decided to keep the message going all month long.
Throughout October, you'll be seeing pink from the Riley Jones team across our social media.
Our photos, graphics, and posts will have a little more pink than usual — not just because it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but because we want to help keep the conversation visible.
We know a social media post can't change someone's life.
But maybe a little pink catches someone's attention.
Maybe it reminds someone to check in on a loved one.
Maybe it starts a conversation.
Maybe it reminds someone who's going through it that they're not alone.
And if it does any of those things, then we're happy to add a little more pink to your feed this month.
A Little More Pink, A Little More Support
We're not medical experts, and we're certainly not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do.
We're simply a team that believes awareness, support, and looking out for the people around us are important.
So, yes — you're going to be seeing a lot of pink from us this October. 🎀
Not because a pink ribbon fixes anything.
But because it represents awareness, support, hope, and the people behind all of it.
And sometimes, keeping something visible is a small way of showing that it matters.
