A Few Things We’ll Miss About Summer, And a Few We Won’t
Fall is officially here, which means we can finally admit it: we're going to miss some things about summer.
And some things? Not so much. 😂
Summer on the coast has a way of sneaking up on you. One minute we're enjoying long evenings, beach days, and sunsets that seem to take forever. The next, we're wondering how it's already fall.
So now that the season has officially changed, we thought we'd make a little list.
A Few Things We'll Miss
Long summer evenings.
There's something about not having to check the clock because there's still plenty of daylight left.
We'll miss that.
The beach.
Okay, we know. The beach is still here.
But there's something different about summer beach days. More people, more activity, more boats, more everything.
We'll miss the energy of it.
Those big summer sunsets.
Some evenings, the sky just decides to show off.
And when we're out shooting around the coast, we're not exactly going to complain about having to stop and look.
The little signs of summer around the homes we photograph.
Bright flowers. Open porches. Outdoor spaces getting plenty of use. Pool days happening in the backyard.
You can tell when a house is fully in summer mode.
And a Few Things We Won't Miss
Sweating while carrying camera equipment.
We'll leave that one right there.
Trying to guess what the weather is actually going to do.
Sunny?
Cloudy?
Rain in 20 minutes?
Maybe all three?
Coastal weather keeps things interesting.
Summer traffic.
We love our beaches.
We also love eventually getting to the house we're supposed to be photographing.
The feeling that every weekend is somehow booked.
Summer has a way of filling up quickly.
Fall feels a little slower.
And we're okay with that.
Now That Fall Is Actually Here
One of our favorite things about working around the coast is getting to experience these little changes firsthand.
The homes change.
The light changes.
The neighborhoods feel a little different.
And suddenly, porches that were too hot to sit on all summer become the perfect place to spend an evening.
At Riley Jones Real Estate Media, we love that photography gets to change with the seasons, too. The same home can feel completely different throughout the year simply because the light, surroundings, and way people use the space have changed.
That's one of the fun parts of photographing homes along the coast. There's always something a little different to notice.
So goodbye to summer.
We'll miss some of it.
Some of it, we're perfectly happy to leave behind.
Now we're settling into cooler evenings, slower days, and whatever the coast decides to bring next.
And honestly, we're pretty ready for porch weather.
