When your agent is preparing your home for an open house, you’ll be asked to remove personal items from view.
The same thought process can be applied early on when the photographer arrives to shoot listing photos of your home.
Family photographs along with greeting cards, awards, trophies, etc. should be out of sight.
It’s best to go from room to room and look closely at each item that is visible or on display and ask yourself; “Am I comfortable with strangers seeing this?”
In the kitchen, dishwashing soap or a dish drainer will need to be out of sight along with countertop appliances.
Exceptions would be that newer looking blender or shiny toaster. All dishes should be removed.
In bathrooms, towels should match the overall color scheme and be folded in such a way that hides any tags. Soaps, shampoos, razors, etc. should be removed.
Any items that draw your eye and take attention away from each room should be put away out of sight.
Clean simple photos of your home will help potential buyers imagine themselves being there.
Most photographers will perform some preparation such as turning on lights, opening window coverings to allow natural light in and moving trash receptacles.
Clean mirrors and windows will enhance views into and out of each room.
Think of how you cleaned the house before Grandma arrived for Thanksgiving dinner.
THAT’S how to prepare for your photographer.
